Adam The Gimbel:
old nooz

Yes folks, Adam has let go of his ego somewhat and is now co-fronting a band. In early December, shortly before his gig opening for Frank Black (went great, thanks for asking!) and the Cover Me Badd show (tuning problems and two broken strings but the end ROCKED), Adam started trying out band members and had a four piece band together by January. Even when he weaseled his way onto a gig headlined by David J (Love & Rockets, Bauhaus), Adam was kind enough to make it a duo show with Rookie Card co-singer John Andrews. Check rookiecardthemovie.com for any Rookie Card goings on. ATG still hopes to do the occasional solo show and put more solo stuff up on his mp3.com page.

GIMBEL STORMS VH1 AIRWAVES
Some eagle-eyed fans spotted Adam in the audience of Behind The Music's 3rd Anniversary Special. Here's the tale.....

The ATG offices have been hotly anticipating Adam's national television debut on the VH1 show Sound Affects for quite some time now. The segment showing Adam talking about the Jonathan Richman song "That Summer Feeling" and the Songs For Summer charity album, filmed at the luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel, was taped several months ago. Sadly, Murphy's Law Inc. recently announced the cancellation of the show. Analysts are still unsure how a show airing at 10pm on Friday nights (when EVERYONE's home!) couldn't attract a sizable audience despite featuring heartwarming stories like the ultimate fighter that used Danzig's "Mother" to help beat the crap of his first opponent.

Meanwhile, staffmembers of the wildly popular VH1 show Behind The Music, who are still in negotiations to produce an episode featuring Adam's drugless life story, took pity and invited him to attend the taping of the show's 3rd Anniversary Special. The show featured an interview segment with Rick Springfield, who had spent the previous evening in jail regarding a domestic dispute. After the interview, the MC keeping the crowd entertained in between segments asked if anyone knew the words to "Jessie's Girl" and, suffice is to say, that Adam did. The performance will probably not make the final edit but still received rave reviews from everyone other than VH1 staffer James Huffman, whose crotch Adam accidentally stepped on during the number.

As a sidenote, the audience was invited to fill out cards and ask some of the guests questions. Though neither of Adam's suggestions ("Hammer, have you seen her?" and "Rick, are you still 'Hard to Hold' or can I have a hug?") were used, a witness says that they both laughed when they saw the inquiries. Also not used was a shot of Adam flashing the "Too Legit To Quit" hand signal. This is the same gesture he used on his FIRST national television debut, sitting behind contestant number four on the Price Is Right in 1992 (as featured in the "Halloween Hilarity" documentary). You can see Adam in many crowd shots and in the first few minutes, there's a dreadful America's Funniest Home Videos style "let's show the audience laughing" closeup of Adam and fellow celebrity Cari Avila. He's in the second row in front of the stage wearing a short sleeved yellow work shirt.

NEW FANSITE!
Since the last update, an obsessed Adam The Gimbel fan has started an unofficial webpage about the singer. Ben Scanlon, of Los Angeles, CA has created a website that, while not officially licensed by Adam The Gimbel Enterprises Inc., is semi-endorsed by those close to the artist. Like most fansites, it looks better than this official homepage and has much more information. ATG Enterprises would like to address the guestbook on the site and say we in no way endorse the falsehoods being spread there. These accusations will be addressed periodically on this website. Namely:
1. Terry swore he was a "Terri". Terry lied but was supposedly a great kisser.
2. Jose Sinatra is an unofficial (but card carrying member) of NKOTB.
3. By "dreamy", this fan probably meant that Adam tends to put people to sleep.

ALPHABET SHOWS POSTPONED
Gimbel's ambitious two-part performance piece, "The Alphabet Shows", where he will perform a song for each letter of the alphabet has been postponed due to a legal conflict with the Children's Television Workshop, who secured the exclusive rights to the alphabet late last year. If there is a breakthrough in negotiations, it will be announced right here. Requests are still welcome.
